Project objective
The strategic objective of the Project is provision of support for the improvement of mobility and transport in the City of Niš and repurposing and regeneration of the urban railway corridor.
The specific objective of the Project is to provide a planning framework for investments in mobility and transport in Niš and for the repurposing and regeneration of the urban railway corridor.
A programme of priority investments shall be identified with a view to financing by the EIB. The Project will have a positive impact as the investments will:
› Improve connectivity and sustainable transport in the city; and
› Provide for the regeneration of the current railway corridor (the Corridor) as a city level public transport axis.
The objective shall be reached through the development of the following:
› A sound basis for addressing urban mobility issues in Niš;
› Exploration and ranking of the options for the reuse of the present inner-city railway corridor (the Corridor) as an urban transport axis;
› Prioritized list of integrated investments in urban mobility and related development is identified;
› Mapping of the capacity-building needs for the CoN to implement a sustainable transport strategy, and operate and maintain new assets.
