Sustainable urban mobility plan

Sustainable urban mobility plan (SUMP) ) is an innovative approach to traffic and the urban system planning that
sustainably prioritizes meeting the demands of the general public.
This method of planning leads to a traffic system that is:

Accessible – destinations and services that are accessible to everyone, including people with limited mobility

Safe – with the fewest possible traffic accidents and for all road users

Environmentally friendly – reduced emissions and minimal impact on resources

Conscious of the impact on resources – reduced reliance on fossil fuels

Aware of climate impacts – resistance to extreme weather conditions

Economically beneficial – justifies financial and other support

Financially sustainable – with resources in place to ensure continued operation

Sustainable urban mobility plan aims to alter residents’ behaviour by changing tradicional car
- friendly traffic system of the city of Niš into one that is more conducive
to sustainable forms of transportation including walking, bicycling, public
